Stuff You Need
- 1½ lb 85 percent lean ground beef
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 Tbsp Lipton Onion Soup & Dip Mix
- ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 3 Tbsp unsalted butter, divided
- 1 medium yellow onion, halved and thinly sliced
- 1½ Tbsp all‑purpose flour
- 1½ cups low‑sodium beef broth
- 1 Tbsp minced fresh chives
Form the Patties
In a large bowl, combine 1½ lb 85 percent lean ground beef, ½ cup panko breadcrumbs, 2 Tbsp Lipton Onion Soup & Dip Mix, and ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper.
Mix with your hands until just combined. Shape into four 4″‑diameter patties, about ½″ thick, and press a shallow indentation into the center of each.
Cook the Patties
Heat 1 Tbsp unsalted butter in a 12″ nonstick skillet over medium‑high heat until foaming.
Add the patties and cook until well browned and the internal temperature reaches 130°F, about 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a platter and tent with foil to keep warm.
Make the Onion Gravy
Reduce heat to medium and add the thinly sliced onion to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly browned, about 4 minutes.
Sprinkle in 1½ Tbsp all‑purpose flour and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Whisk in 1½ cups low‑sodium beef broth and bring to a boil; let simmer until thickened, about 4 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in the remaining 2 Tbsp unsalted butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Finish and Serve
Spoon the onion gravy over the patties, sprinkle with 1 Tbsp minced fresh chives, and serve immediately.
